FUR

Animals that are either trapped or raised and farmed for their fur fair no better that animals used for food. China's fur industry is notorious and although fur farming is banned in Britain, we still buy fur from China. Racoons and foxes have often been skinned alive, sometimes remaining conscious for up to ten minutes after they are skinned.

The majority of the 31 million animals killed on fur farms each year are mink; foxes are the next most common and then come other animals such as raccoons and chinchillas. Mink are semi-aquatic creatures who need access to water and confinement on fur farms causes them severe psychological problems. Dogs and cats and rabbits are also killed for their fur and this also ends up on sale in the U.K. to unsuspecting customers.

"I am sometimes asked why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to the animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer 'I am working at the roots'."
