We are delighted to announce the six composers selected to participate in our Composers’ Studio 2023-24 in collaboration with Tŷ Cerdd:

We received a huge number of applications and would like to thank everyone who applied.

Composers’ Studio gives 6 early-career composers the opportunity and support to write 5-minute pieces for conducted ensemble of 12 players – mentored by established Welsh composers Lynne Plowman and Richard Baker. It’s made possible with funding from Jerwood Developing Artists Fund, Arts Council of Wales, PRS Foundation, RVW Foundation, The Fenton Arts Trust, Garrick Charitable Trust, and The Leche Trust.

We can’t wait to get started in September and are really excited to hear what fresh new sounds this new talent in Wales will bring to our repertoire.

In our latest composer development project, we again collaborate with Tŷ Cerdd on Composers’ Studio 2023-24 giving 6 early-career Welsh or Wales based composers the opportunity to write 5-minute pieces for the UPROAR ensemble of 12 musicians. The project is mentored by Richard Baker and Lynne Plowman and each selected composer will receive £1,000 for their participation.
